Matinee Movie--The Post

On Tuesday, June 12, at 12:30 pm, the Peter White Public Library will show the 2017 film, The Post.  Due to renovations at Peter White, the film will be shown in the Business Reference Room on the top floor of the Library.  Closed captioning will be on to ensure access for all.

Washington Post owner Kay Graham wants to compete with the New York Times by publishing a copy of the Pentagon papers, put forth by Daniel Ellsberg revealing the futility of the Vietnam War.  Unfortunately, a Federal restraining order could place her and her staff in risk of contempt, leading to a conflict between national security and the freedom of the press.  Starring Meryl Streep, Tom Hanks and Sarah Paulson, this historical drama is rated PG-13 and runs 116 minutes.

While nominated as best picture for the Oscars and Golden Globe, The Post won that title from the American Film Institute.  It also won most valuable movie of the year from the Cinema for Peace Awards.
