    The DeVos Art Museum is part of the School of Art and Design at Northern Michigan University (NMU) and also serves as a regional art museum for the Upper Peninsula. Eight to ten exhibitions per year of modern and contemporary art from local, regional, national and international artists are presented in two gallery spaces. Each semester the museum displays the NMU School of Art and Design Senior Exhibition and each summer the North of the 45th Parallel Juried Exhibition highlights regional artists from Michigan, Wisconsin and Minnesota. Other annual and biannual exhibitions include the School of Art & Design Faculty Exhibition, Upper Peninsula Focus Exhibition and Rabbit Island Artist in Residence Exhibition. In addition to temporary exhibitions, the museum displays the permanent art collection on a rotating basis. The collection features Native American and Inuit art, Japanese art, 20th century photography and illustration, modern and contemporary design and local and regional art in all medias. Highlights include Anishinaabeg quill containers, woodblock prints by Ando Hiroshige, sculpture by Sol Lewitt, designs by Frank Lloyd Wright, Eero Saarinen and John Lautner and photographs by George Shiras III.

    The C. Fred Rydholm Gathering Hall on the first floor of the Marquette Regional History Center is available for rent for wedding receptions, parties or community events. The hall seats 180 people at round tables, with 200 chairs being included in the rental price. Tables are not included. There is a kitchen available for use with a refrigerator, oven and commercial sink. Renters are responsible for providing their own catering, decorating and set-up for the event. The MRHC only provides the space and chairs. There are cleaning supplies available. The dome over the hall will be lit up to brighten your special occasion. Rental is for one day only. Set-up time begins at 10:00 am on the morning of the event. No early set-up is allowed. Tear down/clean-up is the night of the event. Event start times will be 4:30 pm or later and end time will be 11:00 pm or earlier. Some 2017 dates are still available. Cost to rent in 2017 is $1,500. A $300 security deposit is also required and will be returned should no damage occur.  An additional insured insurance policy is also required. Reservations for dates in 2018 are being scheduled now.  The rental fee for dates in 2018 is $1,700. Call the Center to book your special day soon. 906-226-3571
